Your clinician

Years of treating patients. Years of teaching others how.

Kirby Shannon is a Registered Nurse and clinical trainer who has spent more than a decade in cosmetic practice — treating patients, and teaching other clinicians facial anatomy, patient assessment, technique and complication management.

That training mindset shapes every consultation at Oak: thorough assessment, conservative planning, and straightforward conversations about what is — and isn't — appropriate for you.

How we work

Quality comes from the decisions made before treatment.

  1. 01

    Assessment first

Recommendations are based on your medical history, anatomy, goals and clinical suitability — never on a menu.

  2. 02

    Clear information

You'll hear about potential benefits, limitations, risks, recovery, costs and alternatives before you decide anything.

  3. 03

    No obligation

A consultation is for information. It doesn't commit you to a procedure, and no treatment is a valid outcome.

  4. 04

    Follow-up & aftercare

Where treatment goes ahead, you'll receive aftercare guidance and a follow-up arrangement with your clinician.

Patient education

The fundamentals of facial ageing. And how they shape the advice we give.

Ageing is a normal part of life, and it involves more than the skin. Over the decades, skin thins, the facial bones gradually reshape, ligaments relax and fat pads change in size and settle lower. In aesthetic medicine and skin care, understanding how a face ages comes before any advice. It guides how we assess what you've noticed and how we explain what skin treatments can and can't do. Sometimes the right answer is no treatment at all.

  • Ageing happens in layers

Skin, fat, ligaments and bone all change over time, so something you notice rarely has a single cause.

  • Timing differs for everyone

Genetics, sun exposure, smoking, weight change and general health all influence how and when these changes appear.

  • Honest about limits

Skin treatments work mainly on the skin itself, so they reach only some of the layers involved in ageing.

Your first visit

What happens in a consultation

One-on-one, in a private treatment room. You're welcome to bring questions, photos of previous treatment, or someone you trust.

  1. 01

    We listen.

What you've noticed, what matters to you and what you'd like to understand.

  2. 02

    We assess.

Medical history, medications, previous treatment, skin and facial anatomy.

  3. 03

    We explain.

Suitable options, their limitations and alternatives — including doing nothing.

  4. 04

    You consider.

Risks, recovery, likely outcomes, costs and aftercare, in writing if you'd like.

  5. 05

    You decide.

There's no pressure to proceed, and some treatments need a separate appointment.

Questions

Anything not covered here, call the clinic on 0477 862 158.

Do I need to know which treatment to ask for?

No. Most people come in with a concern rather than a treatment in mind. Request a general consultation and tell us briefly what you'd like to discuss.

Will a procedure be recommended?

Only if it's clinically appropriate. Your clinician may recommend a skin treatment, a referral, or no treatment at all.

Can I be treated at my first visit?

Some treatments require a separate appointment or time to consider the information you've been given. Your clinician will explain what applies to you.

Who will I see?

Cosmetic consultations are led by Kirby Shannon, a Registered Nurse and clinical trainer with more than ten years in cosmetic practice, working within a doctor-led clinical team.

Can you tell me about prices or products over the phone?

We're happy to talk about consultation fees and skin or body treatment pricing. Cosmetic treatment options and costs are discussed during your consultation with a registered practitioner.

Where are you?
